Ingredients

1 litre fresh apple juice
2 large ripe pears
2 limes
Sliced ginger pieces
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cardamom pods
2 tbsp brown sugar
Diplomatico Rum

Method

This mulled pear and apple drink has added oomph with Diplimatico Rum. It’s the perfect hot beverage for you to make with friends during your summer evening soiree and it’s also really simple to make and super delicious.

Begin by lighting a fire in your chimenea or firepit. Ensure you have a model with a cooking grill so that the pan can rest above the heat. While the flames are hotting up, combine the apple juice, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and sugar in a pan. Place over the heat once the flames have died down.

Next, slice the pears into halves or smaller chunks if desired then add to the pan. Let it simmer until the sugar has dissolved then add lime zest and lime juice. While it’s simmering, the flavours will begin to emerge.

Pour the delicious mulled pear and apple drink into a mug or a heat proof glass with a single (25ml) or double (50ml) measure of Diplomatico Rum. Serve warm, kick back and enjoy next to the fire – you’ll be warm from the inside out in no time at all!

TIP! Don’t forget, if you’re looking for an alcohol free alternative, simply remove the rum. It’s just as delicious and can be enjoyed any time of day!
